A quieter way to see Uganda
ibara safaris began with a simple frustration: the guides and camp owners behind it had spent years watching visitors move through Uganda's parks on shared vehicles, fixed schedules, and permits sold in bulk — never quite arriving at the stillness the forest actually offers.
We set out to build the opposite: a company that takes on a deliberately small number of journeys each year, designs every one from a blank page, and puts its guests in the hands of the same senior guides, trip after trip, season after season.
What we hold on to on every journey
Discretion
We work quietly, by referral and private inquiry, for guests who value privacy as much as adventure.
Craft
Every itinerary is drafted by hand by people who have walked the trail, driven the road, and slept in the camp themselves.
Conservation
A fixed share of every journey is directed to ranger welfare and habitat protection in the parks we operate in.
Community
Our guides, trackers, and camp staff are drawn almost entirely from the communities bordering each park.
Access
Long-standing relationships with the Uganda Wildlife Authority secure permits and routings not available to general operators.
Continuity
Return guests are matched with the same guide wherever possible—the relationship is the point.
A Small, Senior Team
Dedicated wilderness experts on the ground across Uganda.
Founder & Head of Journeys
Two decades guiding across East Africa's parks before founding ibara to build the company those years suggested was missing.
Senior Guide, Bwindi
Raised on the forest edge, trained as a tracker before becoming one of Uganda's most requested private gorilla guides.
Head of Ground Operations
Oversees every permit, transfer, and private charter—the quiet architecture behind a journey that never feels arranged.
